Once again The Hills event showcases a totally new route for this years IW Cycle Fest.
Starting and ending in Arreton Barns (the Dairymans Daughter) the route quickly climbs and descends the Arreton Valley using St Georges after a short cycle track section the route is off road and heading to the hills. From Garstons it’s just a short steep descent into Shorwell with barely enough time to catch your breathe before turning the bike upwards once more. Be sure to take in the scenery as you climb out of Shorwell to reach the ‘airsoft’ drop. Ride through Kingston and up to the Hoy monument before a sharp downwards turn runs the route through the woodyard and onto Southford Lane. Whitwell and the fishing lakes beckon you to the peak of Stenbury down before descending once more to the chip shop. The dreaded Ventnor climb forces riders to take the steeper off road climb and along the top before downwards into a technical section to bring the riders into Wroxall. From here it is a short hop over Appledurcombe to the pig farm, finally making its way back the the Arreton barns.
At nearly 30 miles and climbing 3,500ft this is the challenge of this years IWCF. Are you tough enough to take on ‘The Hills’
